Tuesday Tips – 7 Ways to Get the Outside of Your Home Ready for Fall

It’s that time of year again, many of you don’t want to admit it, but it’s getting colder and Winter is just around the corner. This means we need to get the outside of our houses ready for the change in seasons. Below are some tips to help you get ready 🙂

1.  Roof Check:  Ensure you don’t have loose or missing shingles.
2.  Clean fireplace: If you have one & use it, have it professionally serviced.
3.  Clean gutters and add extenders: Get those leaves out!  Extenders are necessary to push water away from your foundation.
4.  Check Sump pump: If you have one,  make sure it’s in good working order.  It is recommended to have it professionally serviced once a year.
5.  Turn off outside faucets & remove hoses:  This will prevent freezing of your pipes from built up water inside the pipes.
6.  Blow out Sprinklers.
7.  Fertilize lawn:  It’s not too late to have this done now.  It’s recommended to have one last fertilization done before the 1st snow fall & the ground freezes.  Also make sure all your leaves are off the grass to prevent killing your grass over the winter.
We hope these tips help you maintain your yard and house, and let us know if you have any questions or comments!
